How our Lifestyle Changed.....

Meet the characters behind the scenes whose lifestyle changed...

My name is Laida and my husband/business partner is Dan. Our son Matt provides assistance when we have problems with the computer system.

I am a naturalized US citizen from the Philippines while Dan is from Alabama. We met when I worked as a chemical engineer and Dan was a Safety Technician of a construction company at a chemical manufacturing plant in Alabama.

In the mid-80's, the company went through a re-structuring program which happened shortly after our son was born. I was laid off and found a job in another chemical plant in Tennessee where we are currently residing. Since I had a good career, Dan and I decided that I would continue working and he would take care of our son.

My career and personal development at the site went well. Although the plant went through several name changes through de-merging of the initial company and being sold twice since I was hired, I had planned to retire from the plant at the age of 65.

However, just 3 months before my 18 years of service, I was involved in a car accident and then the stress, anxiety and depression that I was experiencing for several years finally caught up with me.

My job performance fell and I was put on medical leave of absence for about two months, went back to work for 3 weeks and was placed again on medical leave for another 2 months. But when I went back to work the 2nd time, I was told that my position was eliminated and so I was forced to take early retirement in January 2007. I believed then how expendable a person is when you work for a corporation or somebody else.

After a few months of being retired, I found myself wanting to get a part-time job. I was bored and needed a mental challenge. One can only do so much housework everyday, right? Besides I was concerned about our pension which was just a small fraction of my previous take home pay. If you are a retiree, you understand what I am talking about. Dan and I decided not to take social security yet because of a big reduction in the amount I would receive.

But Matt and Dan who at this point has health problems did not want me to go back to work. However when Matt suggested to have a home business instead, it turned on a big bright bulb in my head. This was the starting point of our new lifestyle!

I checked the internet and classified ads for a business opportunity that would fit me. I prayed to God for guidance because this would be a new world for me. One day I saw an ad for an on-line MLM home travel business and when I attended the business orientation meeting, I told myself...this is it!!!

Dan was very skeptical about the MLM business. You see, Dan has a B.S. Degree in Commerce and Administration. This is why he is the finance manager of our family and my consultant/sounding board on this business project.

After a lengthy discussion, I agreed to his suggestion that I should see our lawyer friend first regarding the business program of the company before I sign up. Anyway, I proceeded with my plans after the lawyer told me that the company was legitimate. What a relief!

For a few months, I used the traditional method of networking until I came across Ann Sieg's free e-book "The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing". A few weeks later Ann had a webminar and guess who was Ann’s guest that evening…Dr. Ken Evoy, the creator of SBI!

So, here I am now....learning more and more about MLM network marketing and website development. Although I am a chemical engineer by profession, I am a newbie when it comes to the internet, website building, etc. At times, I still could not believe that I am building my own website which I started in February 2008.

My heartfelt kudos to Site Build It! Without SBI, I don't know how I am going to make it in the MLM "InterNetworking" industry.
